Product Description

Brown lips where the apex of fashion back in the mid-to-late 90's. Nearly every major female celebrity, from Jennifer Aniston to Jennifer Lopez have pictures of their lips painted with a chocolate brown color. And there was plenty of room for versatility, too; both glossy and matte finishes were insanely popular at the time.

If you're feeling nostalgic for this beauty trend, you're in luck! The dark brown lipstick look is back, and it's better than ever. Whether you're a fan of the natural, matte finish, or you like to keep things shiny and glossy, both of these dark brown lipstick looks are making a resurgence in the cosmetic world.

Obviously, however, modern times call for a modern twist to this classic look. Thankfully, dark brown lipstick is a universally beautiful color on every complexion. Any woman, whether fair in the face or coffee-skinned can find a shade of dark brown lipstick which works well for their skin tone.

And, unlike some color schemes, sporting luscious brown lips isn't restricted to any one particular season, or even time of day. Brown lips are earthy enough to wear all through the fall, and warm enough to look great during the summer months, too. And if you balance your eye makeup and blush just right, your dark brown lipstick look can work for both daytime and evening looks.

Unlike other bold, dark, dramatic lip colors, dark brown lipstick doesn't necessarily require you to restrict your eye makeup. Obviously you want your lips to stand out the most, but you can still have fun creating a colorful, dramatic look with your eyes as well. A subtle earth tone smokey eye pairs perfectly with dark brown lipstick. You can also accentuate your bone structure with blushes in peach, copper, light brown, or simply lowlight your face with a gold shimmering bronzer for more definition.

Dark Brown Lipstick Benefits

Vessie Goldsmith berry red lipstick colors are made with a highly pigmented color formula. This ensures that you receive an even distribution of rich, luxurious color every time you apply. The long-lasting finish makes it so that you won't have to reapply as often, guaranteeing that your lipstick will last longer. Also, don't be shy about mixing and matching - Vessie Goldsmith lip colors are designed to complement our exclusive line of Vessie Goldsmith lip glosses. So you can add an extra layer of luscious shine with a matching lip gloss, or create a unique color of your own design by applying a lip gloss of a different color.

Dark Brown Lipstick Directions

For dark brown lipstick with a matte finish, make sure you exfoliate before you apply the lip color. Exfoliate however you wish - you can use a lip scrub, a lip balm and a soft toothbrush, or a special lip exfoliating cream. Then apply a liberal amount of lip color to your lips. A lip brush works best because it lets you apply the lip color exactly where you want it with a minimal amount of feathering or smudging. For dark brown lipstick with a satin finish, there is no need to exfoliate before applying the color.

If you're worried about such a dark hue making your lips look smaller, you can create the illusion of fullness and depth with the right lip gloss. For a matte finish, try a matching lip gloss from the Vessie Goldsmith non-shimmer lipgloss line in either Sophisticated, Charmed, or Chocolate (or try those same colors from the Shimmer line with a satin lipstick). Apply a small dab to the center of each lip, and gently blend outward, but do not cover the whole lip. Allow the outer edges of your lips to stay darker for a 3D effect.
